On March 7-8th 2009, the first ever all women’s conference - the International Colloquium for Women’s Empowerment, Leadership Development, International Peace and Security will be held in Monrovia, Liberia - and OB-PS will provide £3,000 to support the attendance of three young women from Denmark, Honduras and Kenya at this Event. The OB-PS Board hopes that the young women will find the Event a fulfilling experience.OB-PS Recruitment Drive
The OB-PS is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year with an ambitious target of 1,000 members by its Annual Event in September. Since January 19 new members have been recruited from countries as diverse as Denmark, Japan, Korea, Nigeria and the UK, seven of them having been gifted membership by generous OB-PS members. This award will be presented by HRH Princess Benedikte to those
members who have given a total of £10,000 to WAGGGS. It is expected that this will consist mainly of members giving the sum of £4,000 in addition to their membership donation of £6,000. The Society honours donors, and recognizes the value that these donations make in the lives of girls and young women all over the world. In order to join the Society, a minimum donation of £6,000 is required.Donors are presented with their insignia by the Society’s Patron, HRH Princess Benedikte of Denmark, at Presentation Ceremonies held during its Annual Events - Vancouver in 2008 - or especially organized in countries where OB-PS is represented.
