Anne Scott Fund 2010
3 December 2010
Since the Anne Scott Fund was established in 2005 in honor of OB-PS president Anne Scott, OB-PS members have continued to generously donate to the fund. This fund provides grants specifically for young women to help them to take part in projects or training related to WAGGGS Development Goals.
This year the Fund has supported 37 girls from 17 different countries (Rwanda, Swaziland, Congo, Hungary, Latvia, Mauritius, Panama, Peru, Kenya, Nigeria, Ukraine, Georgia, Zambia, Honduras, United Kingdom, Tanzania and Costa Rica). £14’000 have been given in grants to girls and young women.
In order to receive this grant, girls promise to present a report and photos from the project they have attended with help of the fund. We could like to share some of their feedback with you. Seven girls have awarded grants for projects taking place next year, so their stories we will be able to share with you next year.

It's a great opportunity for a young women like me to take part in decision making and be actively involved in changing the world to be a better place to live in. Guiding is really giving this opportunity and possibility to me. Zsofia Szalai, 26, from Hungary, participated in 13th European Guide Conference, 2010 |

My participation in this event has changed my life. I am now so much more aware of how desperate people in the world are, and how lucky we are with things we take for granted, like a flushing toilet, clean, running water, electricity, and a home. It was utterly life changing - I am now on a quest to make as many people aware as possible, and to fundraise. I am also determined that one day, I will fundraise enough to return to the children out there, and help them some more. I met the most amazing girls, who I will never forget, who made me look entirely different on my life. Chiara Creates, 16, from UK, participated in LaSER trip to South Africa, 2010 |

The Anne Scott Fund made my dream come true, with its help, I visited Iceland and saw the most amazing things, and made some of the greatest friends, I will always be grateful! Megan Eliott, 15, from UK, participated in Centenary Adventure, Iceland 2010 |

I was part of a team of six - we went to Chile to improve the training of their leaders, to improve relations so more girls can join the organisation. It has even more fuelled my passion for Guiding - especially internationally. I grew in self-confidence on the trip and gained experiences that are invaluable to me, especially as I am training to be a teacher. This funding helped me towards a target I had to fundraise - without help like this going on trip would have been impossible for me. Eleanor Wildbore, 23, from UK, participated in Gold 2010 project, Chile |

I consider my self very lucky being part of the delegation representing youth in my country, especially thanks to Vibeke, the president of OBPS for providing me with a grant to attend this Conference. Zohra Gulam, from Tanzania, participated in 9th Regional conference in Madagascar, 2010 |

The Anne Scott Fund enabled me to have a once in a lifetime experience, enjoying the culture of India at the same time as helping the community and experiencing international Guiding, all experiences I wouldn’t have been able to participate in without a grant. So I am very thankful of the grant giving the memories and experience I will keep with me forever. Nikita Perry, 19, from UK, Discover your Potential III, Sangam, India, 2010 |

I loved reading all about these wonderful girls and their experiences. We should share this with all the OB-PS members and all the Country organizations. The Anne Scott Fund is an excellent way to help the Girls grow and develop.
