May 17th - 20th, 2012
Change her Future. Change our World.
The members of the Olave Baden-Powell Society from the USA, Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), and Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania look forward to welcoming you to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA from May 17th-20th, 2012 for our celebration of the Centennial of Girl Scouting in the USA.
We will be meeting in the historic city of Philadelphia — home of the Liberty Bell, The US Mint — and Girl Scout cookies!
We are excited to have you join us in Philadelphia (Philly) for a program that is interesting, informative, and innovative! Each day will start with breakfast or brunch, included in the Hyatt room rate, followed by updates on WAGGGS and OB-PS activities. Also celebrate GSUSA's 100th anniversary and the 2012 Year of the Girl. You will have the opportunity to experience some of Philly's unique museums, art, historical sites, and fabulous restaurants. Girls and young adults will share with you how their lives have been changed and the impact they have had on others - from producing documentary videos, to environmental justice programs, to Hip Hop to Change the World, all at the Girl Scout Program Center at Shelly Ridge. Girls will also share their musical talents throughout the event. Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Richard Lerner, a worldwide expert on positive youth development. The focus is "Change her Future. Change our World." A lively panel presentation will present cutting edge research applied to innovative programs and the WAGGGS' Stop The Violence Campaign. This is definitely one meeting you won't want to miss; see you in Philly!
Event Venues:
The Welcome Reception and Buffet will be held at the National Constitution Center — a fabulous venue where history comes to life! The National Constitution Center in historic Philadelphia is America's most interactive history museum. Located just two blocks from the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, it is the only museum devoted to the U.S. Constitution and the story of "we, the people".

Girl Scouts will join us in celebrating the Year of the Girl and the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouts of the USA with a day at Shelly Ridge Program Center—the headquarters for Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania, the 10th largest council in the United States, serving over 41,000 girls. Plan to have a fun day exploring Girl Scouting in the USA.

Home base will be the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing. The Hyatt is located on the Delaware River near where William Penn first set foot in Pennsylvania. The Information Sessions, Friday night’s Dessert Buffet and Silent Auction, the Presentation Ceremony, and the Gala Dinner will all take place here.

100th Anniversary of Girl Scouts of the USA
Girl Scouts all over the United States will be celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouts in the USA. On March 12, 1912, Juliette Gordon Low gathered eighteen girls in Savannah, Georgia to begin the first American Girl Scout troop. Throughout the country there will be museum exhibits, commemorative items, and events to celebrate our year-long party.
Today, there are 3.3 million Girl Scouts — 2.4 million girl members and 900,000 adult volunteers. More than 50 million American women enjoyed Girl Scouting during their childhood — and that number continues to grow as Girl Scouts of the USA continues to inspire, challenge, and empower girls everywhere.
